At present, OLED technology is not yet fully mature, the yield is low, the industrial chain is not very perfect, and the scale effect has not yet been formed, and the cost remains high. And Samsung's RGB OLED and LG's white OLED are not the same, the so-called white OLED, is the direct use of white-emitting OLED devices (actually a yellow OLED and blue OLED devices stacked together) as a pixel point light source, and then through Red, green, and blue color filters filter out colors (similar to LCD panels). RGB OLEDs, on the other hand, emit light in RGB colors for each pixel and do not require a filter.
White OLEDs have low technical difficulty, rapid volume production, high profits, and attractive appearance. This is the technology adopted by LG's leading OLED camp. The current OLED color TV market is full of white OLED technology TV products. If RGB OLEDs are used for large-screen production, technical complexity is difficult to produce, and the yield rate is extremely low, LG Samsung does not have a good solution.
